Where edge protection/guard railing is required we offer a variety of standard stanchion posts and accessories or fully fabricated panels to meet the requirements of AS/NZS 1657-2013.

A custom service is also available for non-standard stanchions.

Our stanchions have various mounting plate options for level or angled surfaces and can be mounted to the top or side of the supporting structure to suit your application.

Standard ball drillings are designed to suit 32nb pipe for the top rail and 25nb pipe for the intermediate rail.

We also manufacture custom stanchions with the ball drillings to suit any combination of 25nb, 32nb and 40nb pipe in any orientation for the railing.

The stanchion posts and accessories / fully fabricated handrail panels come in a black (untreated) finish, hot dip galvanized finish or powder coated finish.

We offer a range of standard stanchions posts to meet your handrail / guardrail requirements. These include options for top or side mounted posts with balls drillings level for all level walkways or on any angle from 1° to 49° for ramps and stairs. 

Stanchion Post Spacings:

*Unless specified otherwise stanchion posts are manufactured ex 40nb medium wall thickness pipe.

* When spaced at maximum 2000mm centres using medium wall thickness pipe and 2500mm centres using heavy wall thickness pipe our stanchion systems comply with the loading requirements of AS1657-2013.

DOSO Orientation (Drilled One Side Only)

Stanchions can be supplied Drilled One Side Only when required. DOSO stanchions need to be specified at the time of ordering along with the correct DOSO nomination.

DLSO & DRSO: Orientation when viewed from the walking surface.

DTSO & DBSO: Orientation when viewed from the bottom of the stairs looking up. 

Kick Plate Mounting Brackets: (KPMB)

Kick plate mounting brackets can be supplied on all stanchion types we supply of easy installation of kick plate to the stanchion posts.

*Slot on KPMB allows 7mm up/down adjustment

*KPMB's will be positioned on right hand side of stanchions when viewed from the walking surface unless specified otherwise or DLSO.

*If KPMB's are required this needs to be clearly specified at the time of ordering / quoting.

*Kick plate can be bolted or welded to kick plate mounting brackets. Slot is designed for M12 bolt.

Closure Bends:

Horizontal Closure Bends (HCB) and Angle Closure Bends (ACB) are used at the beginning on end of a handrail. Standard size is 300mm from the centre of the stanchion post to the centre of the closure bend. Custom closure bends can be manufactured on request. Closure bends are manufactured from the same size pipe as the top rail of the ball stanchion handrail system.

Rail Bends:

Rail bends can be manufactured from 25nb, 32nb and 40nb pipe. Standard lengths are 300 x 300mm. Custom rail bends  can be manufactured to any size on request. L1 + L2 must equal 6500mm or less.
